SEC Child Care Programs and Services

Our Before and After School Program (B&A)

As the name suggests, this service is intended for children of school age, from 6 to 12 years of age, in need of a safe, enjoyable and supervised environment to go to early mornings before school starts, and/or at the end of the school day, from September to June.

Our B&A curriculum focuses on socialization, cooperation and cognitive development.

The following is intended to let you know of the type of activities your child will be involved in during a typical day at the B&A, but remember, it’s only a sample!

  • 7:00-8:30 am   Opportunity to have breakfast & take part in small group activities
  • 3:00-3:30 pm    Free play and time to complete homework after a short group discussion
  • 3:30-4:00 pm    Gathering and snack time
  • 4:00-5:00 pm    Outdoor gross motor activities
  • 5:00-5:45 pm    Classroom activities including creative expression, science, small group, imaginative & interactive games and homework time
  • 5:45-6:00 pm    Free play, tidy up

To view activities that are actually scheduled for this month, please check out our calendar.

Once children leave our child care centre to go to school, even if it’s only down the hall, they are considered discharged from the child care centre.  Should a child become ill or involved in an incident after leaving the child care centre, we ask parents to deal with the school staff directly as our childcare staff will not manage the situation.
