About SEC Child Care Services

Our Organization

Child Care and Before and After School Services are provided by Social Enterprise for Canada (SEC), a registered community-based not-for-profit charitable organization.

Our Child Care and Before and After School team is comprised of dedicated, experienced and well trained professionals.

Early Childhood Assistants and Early Childhood Educators (ECE) provide the day to day care and supervision to the children enrolled in their programs. ECEs have responsibility for the handling of sensitive situations, which can range from bullying to health concerns.  They manage relationships with parents, keeping them apprised of their children’s wellbeing and answering any questions they may have.

Early Childhood Assistants and Early Childhood Educators report to Supervisors who also have responsibility for administrative and reporting functions. Supervisors deal with organizations that provide services to the centres.

In turn, Supervisors report to the Manager who has overall responsibility for the children’s care and the program administration. The manager works closely with the Advisor from the Ministry of Children and Youth Services to ensure that all standards are met. The manager reports to the Director of Family and Children’s Services and to the CEO, who has ultimate responsibility for all programs and services delivered by Social Enterprise for Canada.

Our staff members have different educational backgrounds, whether in Early Childhood Education, Social Work or Early Intervention; all possess extensive experience in a child care setting.

Supervisors must hold a degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education. Other credentials, such as a Diploma in Recreational Sciences or Child Psychology, may be approved by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services.
