Our Journey

With more than 100 years of experience in providing high quality services that make a significant difference in the lives of children and youth, Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada and their member Clubs have become a trusted, reputable fixture on the charitable landscape of Canada.

In response to rising demand for youth services, Social Enterprise for Canada established its national charter in 1995. Since then, Boys and Girls Club of York Region (BGCYR) has brought high quality services to many communities.

BGCYR was recognized for its service excellence through the receipt of many awards:

• The Boys and Girls Club of York Region – “Provisional Member High Five Quality Assurance Process - High Five Quality at Play™ Lifelong Learning Begins with Child Play” - 2001
• Bell Canada Award of Excellence presented to Boys and Girls Club of York Region “For innovation in program delivery for young people: One80 Youth Entertainment Newspaper” – 2004
• One80 Youth Newspaper member of BPA Worldwide - 2007
• “High Five Ontario Registered Organization Boys and Girls Club of York Region has committed to provide the highest quality recreation and sport programs to children aged 6 to 12”. - 2008
